Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists

Overview

To be eligible for the FRCPath exam, candidates must have a medical degree and typically have completed at least one year of histopathology training and be in ST2 before attempting the Part 1 exam, and have completed a further two years of training before taking the Part 2 exam. Eligibility is also determined by your educational supervisor, who confirms you have the necessary knowledge and skills for the examination.

FRCpath Exams:

The FRCPath examinations are an essential part of the College’s assessment program. They test the knowledge, skills, behaviors, and attitudes defined by the pathology training curriculum. The FRCPath exams remain internationally recognized for their fairness and high standards. They have evolved to reflect contemporary best educational and assessment practices in pathology.

The FRCOpath exams include:

FRCPath Part 1:

is a theoretical examination, usually delivered online, that assesses core knowledge and understanding of the scientific basis of the chosen specialty.

FRCPath Part 2:

Candidates must pass Part 1 before they are eligible to apply for Part 2.
