Overview
The MRCS examination is a crucial milestone in a surgical career. It assesses whether a surgical trainee possesses the correct knowledge, skills, and attributes to complete basic training and progress to higher levels of specialist surgical training. The MRCS examination is intercollegiate, meaning it is common to all surgical Royal Colleges in the UK and Ireland. MRCS Part A (Written Paper):
A five-hour multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam. Consists of two papers taken on the same day. Covers basic sciences and principles of surgery.
MRCS Part B (Objective Structured Clinical Examination - OSCE):
A major component of the MRCS. Comprises twenty stations, each lasting ten minutes. Assesses clinical competence, communication, and practical skills.

MRCS Lectures: Hosted by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Focus on the Part B OSCE format, content, assessment, and insights from Intercollegiate MRCS Examiners.
