Statutory Membership Examination: The RCVS Statutory Membership Examination is essential for veterinarians educated outside of the UK whose veterinary qualification is not recognized by the RCVS. Purpose: To evaluate clinical expertise and ensure qualifications meet UK requirements for veterinary practice.

Written Exam: Consists of a clinical multiple-choice question paper and an open book examination assessing knowledge of the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct. Clinical Practical Exam: multi-dimensional Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) evaluating practical skills.
Application Process
Declare your intention to sit the exam by submitting the required form and supporting evidence. Declarations expire in September of the intended exam year. Renew intentions annually if exam preparation takes longer. Apply during the specified window for the next examination.
English Language Test
To practise in the UK, you must demonstrate that you can communicate in English at an appropriate level.
This can be demonstrated by taking either:
IELTS
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) assesses English proficiency through four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, taking about 2 hours 45 minutes in total, with the first three sections often on one day, and Speaking potentially separate.
IELTS is aimed at people who want to study in an English-speaking environment, work in or emigrate to an English-speaking country, or get a job in your own country where English proficiency is required.
OET
The Occupational English Test (OET) is an international English language test designed specifically for healthcare professionals seeking to register and practice in an English-speaking environment. It assesses the language communication skills required for success in real-world healthcare settings.
It is recognized by major healthcare regulators and employers in countries such as the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Ireland.
