Fellowship Examination of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists
Overview
To be eligible for the FRCophth exam, you must hold a medical qualification approved by the General Medical Council (GMC) or the Irish Medical Council (IMC). No prior ophthalmology experience is needed for the Part 1 exam, but for the Part 2 exam, you must have passed Part 1 and the Refraction Certificate exam. You may need to have your degree attested by a Fellow of the College, a solicitor, or the issuing university if you are an international graduate, and you can take the exam while on a break from training or before entering specialty training.
FRCOphth Exam:
The FRCOphth qualification consists of four examinations, assessing both practical and theoretical knowledge of ophthalmology practice. These exams are crucial for trainees on a GMC-approved Ophthalmic Specialist Training (OST) program. Successful completion of these exams allows progression and Certification of Completion of Training to apply for a consultant post.
